Audemars Piguet Will Present Cheng Ran’s Work ‘circadian Rhythm’

Audemars Piguet, a Swiss watchmaker, will present the art work ‘Circadian Rhythm’ by Chinese artist Cheng Ran at the Collectors Lounge at the Art Basel Hong Kong Station ).    Cheng Ran chose the Jura Valley as the shooting location for the video installation art work ‘Day and Night’, constantly changing perspectives in landscape and sound, allowing viewers to smoothly move between the world of streams, moss forests, and masterpieces of timepieces . With the development of the film, the subtle sound of nature and the ticking movement of the timepiece movement are intertwined with each other, blending into the picturesque scenery of the birthplace of Audemars Piguet. The fascinating picture leads the audience to deeply immerse themselves in Cheng Ran’s world and feel the unique atmosphere of this place where the brand’s innovative spirit has been bred.

   Born in Inner Mongolia, China in 1981, Cheng Ran is one of the most striking young Chinese artists today. He is well-known for breaking through the boundaries of video art. He borrowed heavily from Chinese and Western cultures and history in his works, and replaced the straightforward narrative method with visual effects of time and space. In 2016, Cheng Ran was invited to collaborate with the K11 Art Foundation to exhibit at the New Museum in New York for three months. Subsequently, he was invited to exhibit his art works in the ‘Yu Shi Yu Pioneer-Audemars Piguet Contemporary Art and Fine Watch Exhibition’ held in Shanghai in October of the same year.
